Lucas was born and raised in Miami. He graduated from the University of Florida, with honors, acquiring a Bachelors of Science degree in Telecommunication (Radio and Television Production). He earned his law degree from Loyola School of Law, in New Orleans.
After graduation, he served as a Miami-Dade County Prosecutor from 1992-1996 where had been involved in numerous “high-profile” matters throughout his career. In 1997, he opted to retire as Prosecutor and opened up a practice specializing in criminal defense.

He represents a wide range of clients travelling all over the country. He is widely considered to be to best (and most ruthless) criminal defense attorney in the country.
