SAM

SAM was arrested following a string of bank robberies. He was arrested during the commission of a robbery by Flame and Astrid. SAM was identified through fingerprint records as Lt. Colonel Harwood Heydon (USMC).

Within hours of his booking, Lt. Col. Heydon was out on bail. He has since disappeared.

It is unknown where he acquired the armor he used in the robberies or his two accomplices.

The powers he displayed during the robberies are:

  • Armor
  • Weakness Detection
  • Invulnerability
  • Power Blast
  • Flight
  • Invisibility

Following his defeat at the hands of Flame and Astrid of the Vanguard and his subsequent bail… he has made several attempts to regain the SAM armor.

During one attack, he wore a different set of armor that displayed the following powers:

  • Flight
  • Armor
  • Power Blast
  • EMP Emission

SAM was captured a second time by the Vanguard and placed in the Center City Prison.

In the winter of 2008, Steele joined forces with Freddy to break SAM out of prison whereupon the trio embarked an a citywide crime spree. Following a confrontation with Bishop Fairwell, Steele and SAM have left Center City. Their current whereabouts are unknown.

Personal History; matter of Public record:

Lt. Colonel Harwood Heydon (USMC) received his commission in 1990 after graduating from Franklin and Marshall College. Upon completion of the Infantry Officers Course, he joined 3rd Battalion 9th Marines during Operation DESERT STORM. After two more overseas deployments with the battalion, he took an assignment to the Ground Defense Security Force, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba in 1994. In Cuba as a Captain, he assumed command of Rifle Security Company Leeward and led Marines in Operations SEA SIGNAL, ABLE VIGIL, and ABLE MANNER during the Haitian refugee and Cuban migrant crisis. After serving in Cuba for two years, he attended the Armor Officers Advanced Course and the Cavalry Leaders Course in Fort Knox, Kentucky in 1996.

In 1997, Lieutenant Colonel Heydon executed orders to join 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion in Camp Pendleton, California. After serving as the Assistant Operations Officer, he assumed command of Company D. He and his company joined Battalion Landing Team 3/1 and the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable). During the six month deployment, he participated in many US Pacific Command and US Central Command Theater Security Cooperation exercises. After the deployment, he was promoted to Major and changed assignment at Camp Pendleton to serve as the Assistant Inspector Instructor for 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion in 1999. During his second year, he was selected to attend the Marine Corps Command and Staff College in Quantico, Virginia. Upon graduation, he took an assignment to joint duty with US Central Command during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

In 2002, he served as the Deputy Headquarters Commandant where he helped design and provided oversight of the deployment and establishment of the US Central Command Forward Headquarters. Once the facilities and connectivity were established in Qatar, he remained for the invasion of Iraq through Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. He was selected to serve as the Aide de Camp to the Combatant Commander. He remained deployed for a year traveling throughout the twenty-seven countries in the Central Command area of responsibility spending most time in Qatar, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

From US Central Command, he proceeded to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina to join 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines as the Executive Officer in 2004. After a pre-deployment training cycle, he deployed with the battalion for combat operations in Al Anbar Province, Iraq during 2005 in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. Based in Al Qa’im on Iraq’s western border with Syria, he participated in daily operations against insurgents and foreign fighters highlighted by successes in Operations MATADOR and SPEAR. Upon his return to Camp Lejeune with the battalion, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and assigned to the 2d Marine Division G-3. Following his tour in 2nd Marine Division, he received orders to Headquarters Marine Corps as a Strategic Analyst in the Commandant’s Strategic Initiatives Group.

In 2007, Lt. Col Heydon was dishonorably discharged from the USMC. The records of his discharge have been sealed.
